How To Get There
The statue of Hans Christian Andersen is located on the west side of the Conservatory Pond (the small duck & sail-boat pond just north of the East 72nd Street entrance to Central Park). This is the same pond that the statue of Alice in Wonderland stands by. The pond is just at the bottom of the winter sledding hill popularly known as Pilgrim Hill for the statue that stands there.
• The downtown buses M1, M2, M3, and M4 stop on Fifth Avenue at 72nd Street.
The No. 4 and No. 6 trains (green line on the subway map) stop at 68th Street and at 77th Street on Lexington Avenue. Walk four blocks west to the park.
There are several parking garages in the area. The closest one is at Chelnik at 1 East 72nd Street (between Fifth and Madison). Also very close is F&F at 10 East 70th Street (between Fifth and Madison).
